Overview
-
Upgrading from Actiphy StorageServer, Actiphy ImageCenter (with StorageServer) is not supported.
-
The tasks configured with Actiphy StorageServer or Actiphy ImageCenter (with StorageServer) cannot be migrated. Manually copied schedule and profile settings do not work.
-
The password-protected version 302 image files created with ActiveImage Protector 7.5.x or earlier are not supported except for BootCheck and Replication.
-
Please note that configuring a post-backup task for the same image set with ImageCenter or ActiveImage Protector on the backup source may result in unexpected behavior.
Ex: If [Consolidation] is configured as a post-backup task in ActiveImage Protector and [BootCheck] is configured with this product, and both tasks start processing at the same time, incremental images that should have been deleted as a result of Consolidation task may remain in the destination because they have to be processed with BootCheck task.
-
When using a web browser such as Firefox that restricts access to sites using self-signed certificates, the [SSL Certificate Required] dialog box is displayed if the following information has not been added to the server certificate.
https://localhost:58337Following the instructions in the dialog box registers [localhost:58337] as an exception for the browser’s server certificate, allowing information such as events to be updated in real time.
-
Buckets added with Actiphy StorageServer, Actiphy ImageCenter (with StorageServer) or Actiphy ImageServer running on a different computer cannot be managed.
-
When installing the product to a path other than the default installation path, do not specify a path that contains double-byte characters. Installing the product to a path that contains double-byte characters will prevent you from connecting to the Web Console.
-
When data are in wait to be written to storage, the product temporarily saves the data in memory (primary cache) until overall system memory usage reaches the predefined threshold (70% by default). When the primary cache becomes full, the product can process only the amount of data that has been written from the cache to storage, which may reduce the processing speed of backup clients.
-
When the created image is saved to a bucket with [Split image into the specified size] option enabled in an ActiveImage Protector client, events indicating the start and completion time of each split file are displayed. In addition, the [Size] field in the image information displays the size of the AIV file, while [Image Set Size] displays the total size of the AIV and AII files (CHNK files are not included).
-
When a folder previously used as a bucket in Actiphy StorageServer or Actiphy ImageCenter (with StorageServer) is specified as a bucket again, Inter-File Deduplication is not performed on existing image files.
-
While [Browse Image] is in progress, an image in use cannot be deleted. The same applies to deletion of image files based on the retention policy in ActiveImage Protector.
-
When multiple processes, such as image creation, Workflow processing, exporting image, and browsing image, are running simultaneously, the time required for each process increases.
-
When processing backup image files created by enabling deduplication compression option in ActiveImage Protector version 7.8.1 or earlier, the following operations may take longer due to increased system memory usage depending on the state of Inter-File Deduplication.
- Consolidation
- Downloading an item by selecting [Browse Image]
Deep Verify, Consolidation, and Restore operations performed from an ActiveImage Protector client may also take longer.
-
The [Workflow] column in Dashboard displays the status of the image on which the workflow was last executed, rather than the status of the Workflow for the latest image.
-
While the [Workflow Status] dialog is displayed, the information may not be updated even when a new image is created. If this occurs, close and reopen the dialog.
-
If the status of a stage is changed in the Workflow settings, the stage status columns and execution history displayed in the [Workflow Status] dialog will be shown as described below.
-
When the execution order is changed, the stages are displayed in the order in which they were executed in the latest workflow. When you select an image for which the workflow was started before the change, information of the workflow execution is displayed in the lower section.
-
When a stage is deleted while multiple stages are configured, the names of the stages following the deleted stage are shifted up to fill the gap. However, the column where the shifted stage was previously displayed remains unchanged, resulting in multiple columns with the same name being displayed. When you select an image for which the workflow was started before the change, information from that the workflow execution is displayed in the lower section.
-
Deleting all stages removes the execution history from the display.
-
-
You are not recommended to create images with [Backup by Disk] enabled in ActiveImage Protector. If Reconcile or one-time Consolidation of individual disk images is performed, the integrity of the entire backup images for the computer may no longer be maintained.
Replication
-
If multiple replication targets are configured for a single stage, they are processed sequentially. If multiple image files are selected for Replication, it may take some time for the entire process to complete.
-
If the same path on the same storage is configured as the replication target for buckets/folders with the same name created by multiple instances of this product, enable [Create Subfolder]. If this option is disabled, the product may not operate as expected after the process is completed.
-
In ActiveImage Protector, do not specify the folder named after the bucket created at the replication destination as the backup destination. If [Keep target items the same with source] is enabled in the policy, image files are deleted during replication process.
-
When WebDAV is selected as the replication target, the task progress percentage does not gain from the percentage shown at the start until replication of the target file is complete. For a task processing multiple files, the progress percentage increases based on the proportion of the total file size that has been replicated.
-
If no images matching the filter exist at the target during replication process, they are also replicated.
BootCheck
-
When Hyper-V on another host is used, the iSCSI Target Server feature is enabled on the host running this product. After uninstalling the product, disable this option if no longer required.
-
On Windows desktop operating systems, only BootCheck using local Hyper-V is supported. BootCheck using Hyper-V on another host is not supported.
-
The systems supporting BootCheck (OS, boot type, etc.), are subject to the requirements of the Hyper-V host being used.
Ex: Since Hyper-V does not support Server 2008 R2 / Windows 7 x64 with a UEFI boot configuration, BootCheck is not supported.
-
The supported image files are those created with AIP Windows Edition. Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or later operating systems are supported. The image files created with Linux Edition are not supported.
-
On Windows 7 or later, BootCheck does not support the image file which does not contain an active partition, such as the System Reserved partition.
-
If the system is restarted or shut down during BootCheck process, the virtual machine created for BootCheck remains in the “Saved” state after the system starts. Then, delete the virtual machine. BootCheck does not support backup images of the systems configured in dynamic volume.
-
BootCheck requires 2048 MB of available memory on the hypervisor to run a single task.
-
BootCheck does not support the same image used by different ImageServer instances on Hyper-V running on the same target host.
-
While the process is running, the progress of [Current Tasks] remains at 10% and reaches to 100% when the process completes.
-
If the process fails in -948 error, etc., please enter the smaller number of concurrent tasks in [Preferences] - [Performance].
-
When processing multiple backup images at the same time using Hyper-V on a separate host, we recommend reducing the number of concurrent tasks and lowering the processing frequency.
Consolidation
- When processing an image created with [Backup by Disk] enabled in ActiveImage Protector with Workflow, processing does not start even when image creation for an individual disk has completed during the execution window. Instead, the operation is skipped and recorded as “skipped”. The workflow task is executed once image creation for all disks is complete.
