Precautions
-
To create USB boot media, please make sure 4GB or more space is available in the USB device. A 2GB boot area is created at the front, and the remaining area is used for data storage.
When USB boot media is created with Windows Server 2016, only 2GB boot area is created.
-
All prior data on the selected USB device will be purged when creating USB boot media.
-
USB boot media does not support BIOS boot.
-
Built-in device drivers must support Windows OS and Windows PE-based OS versions to create the boot environment.
- When creating the boot environment using Windows RE, the device driver must support the Windows OS version on which the boot environment is created.
- When creating the boot environment using Windows ADK, the device driver must support a Windows PE-based OS version. Windows PE-based OS versions will be displayed in [Detailed information of the Windows PE tool] in the [Windows PE kit] of the [Windows PE-based boot environment builder].
-
When creating the boot environment using Windows RE, even when the boot media is created by selecting a language other than the one selected in the Preferred Language setting for the OS, the default language is the one selected for the OS.
-
Windows Server 2012 R2 is no longer supported by version 1.0.8 and later versions. Please use Version 1.0.7 or an earlier version.
Functional Limitations
-
Using Windows RE with the BE Builder fails to create a boot environment on Windows Server 2012 R2 or in an environment without recovery partitions.
-
The boot media created on Windows computer with ARM architecture-based CPU and on standard Windows OS computer are not compatible. Please use the respective media in the supported environment.
Functional limitations to Arm-based OS/Arm-based device
-
When building boot environment by using Windows ADK, only ADK 10.1.26100.1 (May 2024) or later version is supported. In the boot environment booted from the boot media created by using Windows ADK, the keyboard and mouse that comes with the computer or USB device may not be recognized.
-
When Windows Update is applied, boot-up of the boot environment built using Windows RE may fail in 0xc0e90001 error. In this case, please use Windows ADK to build boot environment.
-
Arm-based device does not support Linux-based boot environment.
