Notes on Upgrading / Updating
-
Upgrading from ImageCenter Version 5 is not supported.
-
Upgrading from Actiphy StorageServer Version 1 is supported. After upgrading, please note the following conditions.
-
When multiple replication task settings are configured, after upgrading the product, the schedule settings configured for the respective targets are not migrated. When one schedule condition is satisfied, the process for every targets will start. Please configured the schedule settings again.
-
When Replication schedule settings are configured for specific date / time, after upgrading the product, the schedule settings are not migrated.
-
Overview
-
Only Replication supports Version 302 image files created and password-protected by using ActiveImage Protector Version 7.5.x or earlier.
-
Please note that if ImageCenter task or ActiveImage Protector’s post-backup tasks are configured for the same image set, it may not operate as expected. Ex: When both [Consolidation] post-backup-process and ActiveImage Protector’s [BootCheck] task are configured for the same backup images, both processes start in pararrel. As a result, the incremental backup images to be deleted as a result of Consolidation remain as the target backup images for BootCheck process.
-
When there are no unprocessed image file at the scheduled date/time, Skip event log will be recorded.
-
The backup image files newly added during post-backup process will be processed with the subsequent schedule.
-
If multiple tasks are configured for the item including multiple image sets and [Immediate] is selected for the schedule, multiple skip logs may be output. This is caused because after the image files in one image set are created, another task starts immediately. The task processes the images that exist at the start time of task processing. After a variety of task execution completes, if there exist image files that were unprocessed by the first task, the task starts processing again. Then, the task that processed the latest image file existing at the time of the first execution determines that there are no target image files and outputs a skip log.
-
When accessing via a Web browser that restricts access to the sites that use self-certification, such as FireFox, “An SSL certificate is required” dialog will appear if the following is not added to the server certificate.
https://localhost:58337
Follow the instructions in the dialog, and the connection will be established.
-
Buckets on Actiphy StorageServer running on a different computer and the Actiphy ImageCenter’ bucket cannot be managed.
StorageServer
-
When data are in wait for write to the storage, the data in wait are evacuated to the memory space (primary cache) until the memory usage of the entire system reaches the predefined value (70% by default). Once the size of the primary cache become plentiful, only the data size written from cache to storage can be processed. As a result, the process speed on backup client slows down.
-
When saving backup images by enabling [Split image into xx MB files] option on ActiveImage Protector client, Start and End events are displayed for the respective split files.
-
When saving backup images by enabling [Split image into xx MB files] option on ActiveImage Protector client, the Consolidation of the incremental backup files created in the bucket by using ImageCenter Version 5 may fail in -413 error.
Replication
-
Schedule setting by Replication target is not supported. Please specify the Exclude Time settings for the respective targets if necessary.
-
Replication tasks are sequentially processed. When there are multiple number of image files to replicate, the entire process time will be longer.
-
When creating the bucket / folder in the same name as the replication target in the same storage in the same path, please enable [Create Sub-folder]. If disabling [Create Sub-folder], you may encounter unexpected condition.
-
In ActiveImage Protector, please do not specify the folder named the same as the bucket created in the replication target. When [Keep target items the same with source] option is enabled for Retention Policy, the image files will be deleted in Replication process.
BootCheck
-
When using Hyper-V on another host, iSCSI target server is enabled on the host on which this product is installed. After uninstalling the product, please disable iSCSI target server if not required.
-
Only BootCheck using local Hyper-V is supported on Windows Desktop OS. BootCheck using Hyper-V on a different host is not supported.
-
Since BootCheck bootstraps systems from backup images, you’ll need to be aware of the limitations (OS, boot type, etc.) of the Hyper-V you are using before implementing BootCheck.
For example, since Hyper-V does not support using uEFI to boot Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 x64, BootCheck will not work in these situations. -
The image files created by using Windows Edition on XP/2003 or later are supported. Backup images created by using Linux Edition are not supported.
-
BootCheck is not supported when active partitions (e.g. system reserved area) are not included in the backup image.
-
If shutting down or rebooting the system in the midst of BootCheck process, BootCheck’s virtual machine remains on Hyper-V host of the working agent as “saved”, so please delete it. Running a BootCheck task for a backup image of a system configured on a dynamic volume is not supported.
-
Running 1 BootCheck task consumes 2GB of available space on hypervisor.
-
BootCheck of a backup image using a different ImageCenter on Hyper-V on the same target host is not supported.
-
While processing, the [Current Task] does not gain the progress from 10%. When the process completes, it reaches 100%.
-
When the process fails in error -948, go to [Preference] - [Performance] and decrease the number specified for [Simultaneous Execution Count].
-
When running the tasks for the multiple targets at the same time using Hyper-V on different host, you are recommended to decrease the number of [Simultaneous Execution Count] in [Preference] - [Performance].
Others
- When clicking [OK] in Task setting dialog for bucket / folder, the profile is created even though the profile is not enabled for the task type other than Replication.
When the start and end time for [Exclude Time] is specified the same time, execution of the task scheduled to start at the specified time is stopped.
-
In [Event], image operation history is displayed for the respective backup image files.
